The "Trial"

The Outrun

The dog is sent away from the handler and runs wide till he's behind the sheep

The Lift

The moment the sheep begin to walk into the direction of the handler.

The Fetch

The first part to the handler doesn't look so difficult, but the sheep must walk in a straight line trough the gates, under strict control.

The Shed

The shedding ring is a circle marked with little heaps of sawdust. The purpose is to shed one or more sheep of the rest.

The Pen

The sheep must be herded in to a pen; which is a small place with fences. It seems easier than it is, because no sheep may escape. Sheep will notice rapidly when they are locked up and they want to get away.
